Candy Land Cake
Candy Land is such a fun theme for a child's party! What child doesn't dream of visiting a land of candy after all?
Fondant candy pieces, lollipops and gingerbread man topped the cake. Inside was a yummy chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling.
I made a fun rainbow ball border for the bottom of the cake and rainbow squares like the game board itself surrounded the top. More candy and cupcakes were placed around the cake and candy cane letters spelled out the birthday girl's name.
A happy and sweet cake!

Mermaid Cake: Under the Sea
I recently made a Mermaid cake for my Goddaughter's Under the Sea Mermaid party!
The mermaid topper was sculpted from fondant and cereal treats and even included a starfish in her hair to match the birthday girl's! The birthday girl loved her and immediately wanted to eat her! She was so excited to see that the mermaid had a shell necklace just like her.
I used shades of sea colored buttercream in an ombre-style to mimic the depths of the ocean. I also frosted the cake using a wave motion to further suggest the ocean. Seahorses, shells and seagrass in shades of white, lavender and green were placed around the cake. I even added sugar pearls for "bubbles" in the sea. I used edible pearl spray over the entire cake for a pretty shimmery effect.
A sweet cake for an even sweeter little mermaid!

Travel Themed Cake
I was recently contacted to make a cake for a going away party! Erin sent me the fun vintage luggage invitation from Party Box Design to incorporate into the design. The scooter from the invite, chevron and a luggage topper made for one cute cake!
A sweet way to send a great friend wishes for life's next adventure!
My favorite part was most definitely the luggage topper! They were individually made using Rice Krispy Treats covered in fondant. I had a lot of fun adding the finishing details to each one.

Matryoshka {Russian Doll} Cake & Cupcakes
I have loved the Russian Nesting Dolls {Matryoshka} since I was a little girl and last year bought a set for my daughters, who also love them. So when I was contacted by Jamie to make a cake & cupcakes for her daughter's Matryoshka themed party, I was thrilled!
The cake design is inspired by this beautiful cake that Jamie loved and definitely captured the feel of this colorful party! I designed the doll toppers to coordinate with the fabric used for the party. The cupcake toppers are sculpted out of fondant and the larger cake topper is sculpted from Rice Krispy Treats (RKT). I used edible markers to draw on the finer details. I seriously loved these little dolls!
The pictures are taken by the amazingly talented Wendy of Wendy Updegraff Photography, who is Jamie's sister. I've had the pleasure of making a number of cakes for this seriously talented family. Definitely head over to Wendy's site to check out all the amazing details of this beautiful party!
