The mermaid topper was sculpted from fondant and cereal treats and even included a starfish in her hair to match the birthday girl's! The birthday girl loved her and immediately wanted to eat her! She was so excited to see that the mermaid had a shell necklace just like her.
I used shades of sea colored buttercream in an ombre-style to mimic the depths of the ocean. I also frosted the cake using a wave motion to further suggest the ocean. Seahorses, shells and seagrass in shades of white, lavender and green were placed around the cake. I even added sugar pearls for "bubbles" in the sea. I used edible pearl spray over the entire cake for a pretty shimmery effect.
A sweet cake for an even sweeter little mermaid!
This is awesome! I love every bit of it.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get your frosting to look like that texture? Amazing job you did!!! <3
Thank you so much Mary Beth! I used a small cake decorating spatula and swirled the frosting to give it some "movement" :)
DeleteGreat touch spraying the cake for a pearlized shimmer!
