Girly Camping Cake

For my daughter's 6th birthday, she asked for a Barbie Camping Party. I decided to put a vintage 70s spin on the theme using bright colors, fun patterns and feathers! For her cake, she asked for a little girl inside of a tent. Of course she also asked for a forest and woodland animals and a bunch of other stuff, but hey there's only so much room on that cake! ;)

I loved the tents that Wendy Updegraff made for her daughter's camping party and that was the inspiration for my topper! I thought the chevron was perfect for the 70s theme.

I used feathers and wood grain on the fondant to tie in our party elements. Of course the little girl had to have a feather headband on! For the perfect finishing touch, I added a gorgeous mini cake bunting from the glitter queen, The Purple Pug to my tree stump!

Originally, the tree stump had bark on it, but when my husband took a chainsaw to it, it all fell off! But I actually LOVE how it looks without the bark and glittering and hot-gluing on all those mini pine cones was totally worth the final product!

My sweet baby girl LOVED her cake and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about!
